Sorry its late getting up, but here are the highlights of the ReALE homebrew competition.

Congrats to Nate the Winner with his Golden Goal Golden Ale! It was amazing.

Also, thanks to all the brewers, there were no bad beers, and the Root Beer, and Ginger Ale were epic!

Hello Section 26!!!

The day is upon us! First home game of the season! I just wanted to mention a few things before we go into the game tonight.
Homebrew Competition:

As some of you know, we were able to get Ian Joy to come out AFTER the game and be our Celebrity Judge for the homebrew competition! The competition is scheduled to kick off at 5:30. Voting will go until 6:30. After the game the votes will be counted and Ian Joy will also vote for his favorite. The winner of the fans favorite will get the Homebrew Trophy, the winner of Ians Favorite will get a Jersey autographed by the entire team courtusy of Ian!!!
We have a limited amount of custom printed glass steins available for sale. Brewers however get one for entering (only one per brewer). The steins will sell for $5, but remember you are also getting to try some really great beers with these steins. This is also somewhat of a fund raiser for us. We are trying to get a few things (banner, scarfs etc), and the precedes are going directly to those things. So buying a stein doesn't only get you good brew, it also helps out your supporters group!

This contest isn't just limited to drinkers. There are also at least two non-alcoholic brews being entered (a root beer and a ginger ale), so imbiber or no, come out and cast your votes!
Songs and Chants:

This game is going to be on ESPN tonight so we need to bring our voices so we can show the league we are the best fans, and the best supporters group! So there are a few cheers to remember for tonights game:One is what you have seen on the signiture of these newsletters and on the website. This our cheer! The cheer to get Section 26 excited for the game, and let the rest of the stadium know we are there! This cheer is to be sung at the beginning of the game right before kick off. It goes as follows:

Road Trip to Colorado May 1st-3rd

The fist game of the 2009 Rocky Mountain Cup, and the lone trip to Colorado this year. Its not to early to start planning. One way flights to Denver are currently going for $39 on SouthWest Airlines.
We are also throwing together another Brewery Tour. Last year it was of the Fort Collins Breweries, this year we are hitting up downtown. More details to come soon.

So I have been working on a website. I know right now it is pretty bad, so I am constantly updating/creating it and looking ideas. If you have any ideas for improvement write them in the comments section. I am hoping to incorporate the blog, more images, and hopefully get that godaddy add off the top and put in one of our own!

Road Trip to Seattle!

Join us March 27-29 as we make the journey to see RSL open their 2009 campaign against the newest MLS Franchise, and our newest rivals, Seattle Sounders! We have on car load full and are looking to add another. We will be leaving Friday the 27th as soon as Mark gets off work and coming home Sunday the 29th. Saturday we are putting together a tour of downtown Seattle with stops at Pikes Market, local craft brewers, and more. Then off to the game to cheer on ReAL and show the Sonics fans how to really support your team. After the game, its off to downtown again for a pub crawl. Group ticket prices are available for $20. The Brewery Tour has been planned as follows:
11:30 - Gordon Biersh Brewery for samples and lunch
1:00 - Pike Brewing Co. and Pike Place Market

The event will be held in the King’s Terrace club on the second floor of the stadium.
Come visit with each group and learn what their philosophies and beliefs are, and what their brew of choice is.
Get a tour of the stadium and select your seats by sitting in them rather than simply looking at a computer screen.

Just a fast reminder. The ReALE Salt Lake home brew contest is on April 2nd. That is EXACTLY 2 months from Today. Its hard to believe the season starts next month!!! We cant wait to try all of the great Home Brew. Here is our final ReALE Salt Lake Home brew logo. Thanks to all of you who voted in our logo contest. We are going to use at least three of them, and try to make a flag.

The Meeting...

Pete, Kevin, Mark and Corey met with the Front Office last night to discuss becoming official. They were pretty excited about it, but seeing as we are in the north end, and plan on staying there, there are a few logistical dilemmas that they need to run by Bill Manning before they can give us their full backing.

A few of the things discussed at the meeting:

They would like us to come up with a description of who we are and what we do.
They would like us to make a nice webpage that they can direct people to who might be interested in join us.
They dont know about any discounts on tickets yet. That is something they need to run past Bill.
They were really excited about the home brew contest, and will try to get us celebrity judges.
They will be talking with the merch team about selling Section 26 gear in the team store in a consignment fashion
We are working to get people discounts on Section 26 jerseys.
There is going to be a recruitment contest between the supporters groups with the winner getting a big custom made drum.
We will be able to get a few parking passes.
We will be held to a higher standard.

If you have any friends that are sitting on the fence about getting season tickets, convince them to sign up with us, and make sure they tell the ticket rep that they want to sit in Section 26 and be part of our group! In the future we might be responsible for selling our own seats, but for now the more people that request us the better.

The logo design contest will end around the end of the month, then we will vote for our official badge!

Also I would like to bring the Hymn book back to life, so if anyone
has ideas for that let me know!

Get working on your homebrews! Root Beer is allowed for you non imbibers!

ReALE Salt Lake Home Brew Contest Update

Okay so the day and time is set. The first ever ReALE SALT LAKE Home Brew Contest will be held on the first home game of the 2009 season. Mark your calendars for April 2nd with beers ready at 5:00 PM. We are working on some celebrity judges, but for the most part it will be a ballot system with the winner taking home the breathtaking ReALE Salt Lake Home Brew Trophy (beer tap handle). We are working on some custom cups that will sell for $5 each. Please let us know if you are interested in one, this way we can see how many we should order.

Some basic rules:
-Ales only (ReALE Salt Lake)
-Brew the ALE that you feel best represents RSL
-You can bottle or Keg, its your choice, but bring cups if you Keg
-Beers must be prepared to drink by 5:00 PM on April 2nd at the Supporters groups lot
-Be honest with your judging. We want the right brewer to win
-Votes will be counted at the end, and possibly a final round for after the game
-If you need any brewing help contact The Beer Nut (http://www.beernut.com/Web_store/web_store.cgi)

A Good Run

RSL had a great run. Nobody expected us to even get into the playoffs, but we proved everyone wrong and made it to the Western conference finals. RSL fans have proven to be the best in the league. We had a great tailgate Saturday night with all the supporters groups and the casual fans all joining in on the fun. Nothing can stop us next year. Until then, get the ReALE ready!

First EVER RSL Chili Playoff!!!

Your Chili must be at the competition no later than 2:30.

Tasting will go from 2:30 to 3.

Voting will close at 3:15 and the votes will then be tabulated.

A prize for First Place and Runner up will be awarded.

(Optional $2 entry fee with the pot going to the winner)
